I felt very honored to be in such company!  Special thanks to Robin Gelfenbien and Matt Hoverman (his play, WHO YOU SEE HERE is going to Broadway very soon) who created this event.

We had three successful shows at 59e59 Street Theater.  The staff is WONDERFUL and the audiences plentiful and so engaged.

I'm about to pass out from performing, but I must thank my gorgeous and sexy team:

Matt Hoverman
Kenneth Heaton
Claire Unabia James
Matt James
Hegine Nazarian
Eric Mercado
Craig Ryan
Jim Cheung

And to all the wonderful people who came and supported the show.

This run has made us more prepared for Edinburgh technically and in spirit.  If we can make it here, we can make it anywhere.  I love New York.

Scotland, ready or not, here we come.

There was character that Courtney Brooke Lauria wrote for me.  A few years ago I was honored to be mashed up with some playwrights and actors in Ma-Yi and Ensemble Studio Theater.  The actors were given a playwright and we told the writers what we wanted to have written.

Courtney and I were matched up and we chatted nervously.  Well, I was nervous.  She didn't look bored but she didn't look overjoyed.  She nodded and listened to me.

The following week, she sent me the script and it was AMAZING.  Even better than I could have imagined.  The character was a snappy, fast talking, rapping (but raised in the burbs) mischievous  young woman.  She was in a funeral home and really inappropriately stealing stuff.

I believe I chose the character or rather, this character/persona chose me because it's a little part of me. And as I rehearse YO GIRL!, I recognize that character emerging again.  I have Courtney to thank for that.
